Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American politician, attorney and vice president of United States. She is the first female vice president and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a senator and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her career began in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010 and elected again in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the second African American woman to serve in the Congress, and the first South Asian American American to do so in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and campaigned for reforms to healthcare and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for an opportunity to become a citizen for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her most well-known accomplishments are her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
